Joshua Zirkzee has dismissed suggestions that giving up Champions League football to join Manchester United was a difficult decision, insisting he has full confidence in Erik ten Hag’s plan to get the club back to the top.
United finished eighth in the Premier League last season, their worst finish since 1989-90.
But with a new coaching staff and the steady and fresh support of co-owner Eneos, there is hope that Ten Hag and his players can take a big leap forward in 2024-25.
“I am very confident and feel good about this step,” Serkse, who joined from Bologna for £36.5m, told the club’s media in his first interview.
“It wasn’t a difficult decision, I mean I love Bologna a lot. But Manchester United gives me a very good feeling.”
“I am confident that what we planned will happen as well.”
Serkse has been included in the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024 and Promotion ufabet will now take a short break before joining up with his new team-mates.
“The last two or three weeks have been a rollercoaster,” added Serkse.
“It’s been a great experience and I’m very happy to be here. Of course, moving to Manchester United is a great thing.”
“I can’t wait to get started and continue what I did last season. I just hope to improve every day and try to be the best I can be.”
Meanwhile, with Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Haag joining Ten Hag’s new coaching staff, Serkse has a Dutch voice that will help him settle into his new home. Although adjusting to life in England is not a concern.
“Having the Dutch around makes everything easier,” he said.
“To be honest, I’m an easy-going person. It wasn’t too difficult for me to adapt. Well… But yeah, it’s always nice to have them around.”
