He came through the Bayern Munich system, made his name at Borussia Dortmund, then had second spells with both of those clubs.
Between those spells, he won the Bundesliga five times. And of course, in 2014, he won the World Cup with Germany.
Now, it is time for him to showcase his class in Italy. He will wear the number 15 shirt for Roma. Who had a final vacancy to fill in defence following the end of Chris Smalling’s spell with the club.
