Potter says injury will not affect Kante and Chelsea new contracts.
Chelsea boss Graham Potter insists N’Golo Kante injury will not affect the player’s new contract talks. But the first goal is to get him ready to return to the field again.
The 31-year-old midfielder has certainly missed out on the World Cup final. After undergoing surgery to treat an injury that will take four months to complete, he has previously been rumored to have turned down a two-year contract with the club. And a new round of negotiations still hasn’t started. The player has a contract with the team until mid 2024.
“His injury does not affect contract negotiations. But first we want to get him back fit and ready to play first. He had just started a long way back into playing. We must first ensure that his recovery is on the right track. When he is ready to play we can talk about a new contract.”
“Now all I can do is concentrate on what I can control. Follow up on day-to-day treatment steps. When it changes for the better We will be able to move on to the next step.”
Kante was injured during the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in August. which is severe to the point of surgery Chelsea said the surgery went well, but the 31-year-old is out for four months.
